Highs and Lows, Floods and Flows: Teacher Guide and Student Guide Teams of students become familiar with the topography of Mars, its geologic features, and patterns of features using a color-coded topographic (MOLA) map. They discuss the geologic processes that have or are occurring and assign relative ages. Based on their observations and interests, they propose a landing site for their exploration team.

Mars Revealed: Evolving Technology, Advancing Science Mars Revealed is a week-long high school teacher training on the relationship between evolving technology and scientific understanding of Mars held at the Lunar and Planetary Institute in Houston, TX. This website contains materials presented during the July 2012 training. Materials include PowerPoints, activity write-ups, Mars mission data, and mission fact sheets.

Mars Student Imaging Project (MSIP) Student teams become involved in authentic Mars research. Students work with scientists, mission planners and educators to select sites and collect images with the THEMIS visible wavelength camera onboard the Mars Odyssey spacecraft.

Mars Uncovered This activity guides students through an inquiry-based, critical thinking approach to studying the surface of Mars in a similar way to what scientists do. Students learn to create a geologic map of part of Mars and use relative age dating techniques to analyze the information and interpret the geologic history of the region.

MarsBound! Mission to the Red Planet MarsBound! brings the "E" in STEM to life in your classroom. MarsBound! is an engineering simulation activity in which your students use realistic techniques to plan a mission to Mars.

Project Spectra! “Project Spectra!” is a science and engineering program for 6th – 12th grade students, focusing on how light is used to explore the Solar System. “Project Spectra!” emphasizes hands-on activities, like building a spectrograph, as well as the use of real data to solve scientific questions.

Scratching the Surface Scratching the Surface is a six part activity in which children explore the features of Mars and Earth, including volcanos, craters, and stream channels. The children perform experiments to determine how these features form, and discuss what the features suggest about the history of Mars.
